5. Looks & feel of the Rocky Patel DBS

The Rocky Patel DBS Robusto has a medium-to-dark brown wrapper with some lightly elevated veins and a slight toothiness.

The caps are applied well; however, the seams are somewhat elevated. There are three bands, each with an orange, black, and gold colour scheme.

The company name is printed on the foot band, the line name on the secondary, and the company logo on the primary.

The wrapper has a scent that combines cedar, baker’s chocolate, and black earth. The foot adds soil, wood, and a hint of sweetness from the tobacco.

Light tobacco sweetness, dusty soil, and cedar are all present in the pre-light pull.

6. Ash & burn of the Rocky Patel DBS

The ash stuck on in intervals of an inch and a half, and the burn was straight through.

Fantastic burn from beginning to end.

There was no need for intervention because the burn went through the evaluation quite smoothly.

Excellent burn demonstration.

Cool burning temperature, plenty of smoke generation, and even burning.

8. Flavors of the Rocky Patel DBS

First third

Black pepper, earth, and dark wood are the first notes on the cigar. The black pepper is showing a very long finish at one-quarter of an inch.

Earth, toasted dark wood, and a hint of spicy black pepper are detected in the retro-hale. The black pepper is just behind the dark wood and dirt at an inch in.

rocky patel dbs6

The black pepper becomes slightly creamier as the third finishes.

It had a medium to full strength.

Second third

The black pepper tone slightly lessens as the second third gets started.

Some pale cocoa powder enters the picture a quarter of an inch in. Earth, toasted dark wood, and a hint of spicy black pepper are still there in the aftertaste.

rocky patel dbs5

An inch deep, the dirt is starting to get a little dry. The black pepper becomes a bit more subdued after an inch.

The final notes of the third are still dark oak and earthy up front, with a hint of creamy black pepper in the middle and a hint of light cocoa powder in the background.

It stayed at medium to full strength.

Final third

The dark oak is starting to get rather toasty as the last third opens.

Halfway through, the bread gets very dense and the chocolate powder disappears.

rocky patel dbs7

Now, earth, mellow black pepper, and toasted dark oak characterize the retrohale.

The cigar’s finish is marked by a strong aftertaste of toasted dark oak and earth, with a hint of creamy black pepper trailing slightly to the side.

The strength didn’t change.

9. Overall experience of the Rocky Patel DBS

The cigar had notes of black pepper, dirt, and dark wood at first. The third was almost over when the black pepper started to taste lightly creamy.

A faint aroma of cocoa powder joined in during the second third, and the soil started to feel a little dry. The chocolate powder disappeared in the last third.

rocky patel dbs8

It was almost perfectly constructed; however the draw was a little tighter than I would have liked. The flavours of the Rocky Patel DBS Robusto were well-balanced at first.

The earth got a little drier as it approached the second third, so it lowered a level and stayed there the rest of the way.

It also maintained a respectable level of strength throughout. I wouldn’t imagine myself returning to this cigar very frequently, especially at the price range, but heavier blend lovers could find this to their liking.

Final puff

Rocky Patel DBS: To put it simply, this cigar is perfect for anyone who enjoys broadleaf tobacco.

Do you need proof?

The cigar’s name, DBS, which stands for Double Broadleaf Selection, is all you need to search for.

rocky patel dbs9

Honduran and Nicaraguan broadleaf fillers and a dual binder of USA Pennsylvania broadleaf and Nicaraguan tobacco make up this multi-cultural mix.

Not to mention, a gorgeous Mexican San Andre’s wrapper covers everything.

The end product is a medium-to full-bodied cigar with a rich, savory flavor.

The Rocky Patel DBS is ideal for a late-night drink when seeking a distinctive take on the classic Conneticut Broadleaf profile!
